What is NOT Feng Shui?

Since I've posted up questions on GK Ham International Feng Shui Consultant Facebook page, I receive request to write about what is and what is not Feng Shui.

My experience with new clients nowadays, 99% of them are able to differentiate 'trinket' Feng Shui and real Feng Shui.

'Trinket' Feng Shui is when the ‘Feng Shui consultants’ ask you to purchase 1 or more statues/ornaments to place in each corner of your house. For romance, maybe you would require to buy some items that have shapes or imagery that reminds you of couple, togetherness etc. For support, mountain pictures, fibre/steel or wood base material to represent mountain and place it at your back.

These are all classified as Trinket Feng Shui - which is NOT Feng Shui. If having all these trinkets can change a person's life in their environment- then the shop that is selling it must be enjoying the best Feng Shui - which sadly in reality is never the case.

Then why do people still buy those trinkets home and place it year after year?. Additionally there is always a new batch of people every year who are really interested in improving their life with Feng Shui but somehow not having enough merits in their destiny, therefore leading them to read the wrong books and unknowingly lead them to a road of endless trinket buying spree!

Trinket Feng Shui have ideas similar to modern medicine, something wrong with your body and surely the doctor would have a pill to fix it. In this case, something inadequate in your life, there's a Feng Shui item that can fix or help you.

If you are really wanting to know what is real Feng Shui and want to use Feng Shui to assist you in your goals in life, the first thing you have to wake up from is the trinket Feng Shui dream. If you are able to pass that- then you might just have enough merits in your destiny to know what is real Feng Shui and how it can help improve your life for which the system has been improving others destiny for many centuries before us.

So what is real Feng Shui? Feng Shui is using the energy of your environment to balance YOUR destiny. Whenever there is balance, there is harmony, and where harmony exist - prosperity comes naturally and easily. You are in flow with your destiny - things that you willed, objectives that you set are easily put into motion and achieve without much obstacles. What I described seems like fluff and above the air. Prosperity does not mean money will fall from the sky, or just wait and someone will knock at the door and give you a big chunk of money.

Some term it as Classical Feng Shui, following the Classics that was written by previous practitioners. Even within classical Feng Shui there are differences in the system that is used and of course the variations of result.

One of the WORST beliefs to adopt in Feng Shui is to think that it is a Do It Yourself (DIY) hobby. Hence many would think that a How To Feng Shui book costing less than USD100 will be able to help their destiny and improve their life, if only they follow it to the dot. Would you DIY surgery for your own medical condition?

The major difference of ancient Chinese authors and Western authors is that, for Chinese practitioners who are forefront in their field, their writings of books most of the time is published to impress their peers of their capability and knowledge findings. Rarely are those books being published to be How To or Guide books of DIY Feng Shui. Readers who are not familiar with this would then take these books as self-learning books of Feng Shui.

Some Western authors would then translate these early classics or make interpretations on those classics. BUT are those interpretations or translations useful? Applicable in modern household? Or even correct?

So how do we determine the classics are correct? It is through experience gather from many case studies through time back by logical principles and interactions of the 5 elements. Is an experience of a person enough to render a principle useful or applicable? NO definitely NOT, you need a group of people through generations to apply, validate, re-assess and finally render that principle useful.

This is where a REAL Feng Shui Master needs to be able to tell others the name of their teacher or Master, their grand master and great grandmaster. Not because they can show off, it is so that we can trace their line of knowledge, collective experiences and also the effectiveness of their work. You MUST place an importance on this if you ever want to experience the effects of Feng Shui.

When a practitioner put their Feng Shui consulting name as ‘research for Feng Shui’ it always gives me a big doubt in my mind. Because there is NOT even a remote possibility within a lifespan of ordinary human being to be able to research anything out of Feng Shui. Lets look at the figures, BaZi possibility runs in millions of possible combinations, not encompassing the background, place of birth and locality of the person. Then with house and environment, there are almost infinite possibilities of external environment, internal layout.

If the person’s foundation knowledge of Feng Shui principles are not strong, in which they are just experimenting here and there, points pick up from books and short seminar here and there. Do you think they would ever research anything from it? And you let them CHARGE you money for experimenting on you.

For example Chinese martial arts, famous Wing Chun practitioner Ip Man. His Master or Shi Fu is Chan Wah Shun and from him we can trace it all the way back Wing Chun. Now famous globally is Samuel Kwok, his master is Ip Ching and Ip Chun, sons of Ip Man. And wherever you go to learn Wing Chun in the world – those masters are able to tell you their lineage. Even Bruce Lee the founder of Jeet Kun Do is able to tell you his master is Ip Man, and from it he refine it further. All these legends of our time, do not tell people I study it from books or I am doing some research in Wing Chun on my own. Why? Because it takes a person a lifetime in order to refine the skills of their lineage.

Feng Shui is field of knowledge by itself, and within it have few systems that are being used. Studying Chinese Traditional Medicine takes 5 years of theory and 2 years of recognizing herbs. For Feng Shui each system will take 3 – 5 years to familiarize for a student, refinement will take 1 decade or more.  If you are willing to invest the time and effort, then practicing Feng Shui as a career may suit you. If you just want the results, by all means hire a professional who have gone through the required learning and just pay his fees. DIY? Why don’t you opt for clay craft instead :)

FS Difference between House and Apartments

What is the difference?

In internal Feng Shui evaluation of house vs apartments - 2 areas of importance have a lot of difference in flexibility.

1. Internal Water Exits of the home. House can spend some money to correct the problem, whereas for apartments, majority of the cases you will be unable to change it.

2. Kitchen and Stove. If kitchen is not in the correct location, you can still change it. For apartments, it will be a major project. If the building adopts central gas supply then changing location will be almost impossible.

For external evaluation,

1.If there is a major sha in the environment, if an apartment building faces sha, the sha effect will be shared by all the occupants. If a house faces a major sha in the environment, then they will be affected wholly by it. 

2. For external water, which is bringing strong vibrant qi into the house or strong sha qi into house - depending on the house setup- house will definitely have more advantage in receiving qi compared to apartments.

Landed properties are increasingly more expensive all over the world. From a Feng Shui consultants perspective and experience - if you cannot afford a landed property, find a qualified Feng Shui consultant and find the appropriate landed property that are available for rent!

If you have rented a house that are suitable for your BaZi- it will definitely helped your destiny. When the correct luck period arrive, then you will be able to afford your first landed.

When I started moving out from my parent's place, I've decided to rent a house even though the rental was much more than I can afford. Within 3 years, me and my wife bought our first house. And after another 5 years we upgraded again.

So part of the plan to improve your destiny are:

Find a suitable landed property- if you cannot afford to buy - RENT !
And most important of all get a qualified Feng Shui consultant to advise you!

卜卦实录 Yi Jing Oracle Diary

Using Yi Jing (I-Ching) to do oracles is one of the fastest way to know about a outcome of an event that is following a natural flow of the universe. Of course other ways that can be even faster would fall under the spiritual category.

I did not manage to write any articles pertaining to Yi Jing is because Feng Shui and Ba Zi alone would let me know enough information that I am seeking to help my clients. However I have decided to be more consistent with my Feng Shui blog, therefore I will add a category to record my 'Bu Gua' 卜卦 real life cases.

This first case is about a client who wishes to renew her passport from local immigration department. The client's passport have been blocked by the tax department for many years due to taxation dispute with the goverment, hence the client is unable to renew their passport.

After they paid the required amount to the tax department, on their visit to the immigration, they still find that their name are still being blacklisted by the tax department. Therefore they call me up and ask whether I can give them some clue on what is the chances for their visit to the immigration department.

On 22 November 2011, I did a 'Bu Gua' and below is the result

The Original Gua is 水天需 (Xu Gua) and Result Gua is 澤天夬 （Guai Gua)

The Original Gua indicates waiting and also obstacles, it also shows that they are very yearning to renew their passport. The Result Gua 'Guai' indicates decisiveness and also ability to do their passport.

Therefore from the Bu Gua, I have informed my client that on their current trip to the immigration department, they would be able to do their passport but they will have difficulty in terms of waiting or long queue.

Actual Event:
When my clients reached near the Immigration Department on that morning, suprisingly they find it very difficult to obtain parking for their car even though it is a weekday. Eventually they have to park about 500m away from the Immigration Department. Upon arriving, on that moment itself there is a sudden influx of people who were lining up to obtain their number to create/renew their passport.

Upon checking the system, they found that all is clear and they can do their passport. However they decided to go back another day due to the large number of people on that day.

I have then selected a day that is suitable for their initial Gua, and they did went on that very day. Suprisingly this time, not only that it is very few crowd, but their number got called ahead of others who were there much earlier. Their passport was renewed successfully.

Ba Zi Sexual Compatibility PART 1

About more than a decade(10 years) ago, in my previous life I was a Professional Behaviour Analyst – doing profiling for companies especially sales employees. Checking on their suitability for selling. What's their style of selling and how to match them to the customers of a particular corporation.

Then when I learned about Ba Zi – One of the Chinese System of Destiny Analysis and there was no turning back. Not only can I profile a person on their behaviour, but also what is likely to happen in their near future, with the information on their current character traits.

The best thing abot Ba Zi when it comes to profiling a sales person, is that I can know whether the person can or cannot sell, irregardless of their skills and for how long they could be at the top. This is something conventional profiling cannot do. In another sense, it is discrimination at its highest covert level. Then again, the sole purpose of a business is to make the most money with the least resource – that is Management 101.

Ba Zi does not only help in business but also it can profile personality match of couples. People fall in love and stay in love is also due to the compatibility of their Ba Zi. He has something she needs and she wants something he has on a Qi Level.

If we magnify even further, Ba Zi can also profile a couple's sexual match. Yes folks, my blog is intended for mature readers. Statistics have shown that more than 50% of couple that went for divorce is due to sexual incompatibility. More so in the Western society. In Asian society, divorce rate is lower but affairs of marriage couple is almost the same.

Ba Zi would be able to tell, whether someone is highly sexual, moderate or totally impotence/frigid. We can also tell whether that person is mentally impotence/frigid or it is a medical condition. Ba Zi would also be able to give clues whether a married person would act on sexual impulse ie. Having many affairs or it is all in the head only.

Drastic changes of luck period would also sometimes change a person's sexual preference, from heterosexual to homosexual. It explains why some people who are heterosexual, would in some stage of their life discover that they are homosexual. It is true for male and female.

Some women, who are highly conservative in their early luck periods can become sexually promiscious when their luck changes. We may think that all this is happening on a emotional level, or the person have got themselves involve with bad company. However, it is always the changes on the Qi level of their destiny that triggers the behavioural pattern. And once the behaviour is repeated, new neural pathways form in their brain, beliefs develop and changes of character happened.

It explains on why some men/women, totally caught by surprise that their other half would cheat on them – since they know that the person they are married to is not someone who is sexually promiscous. Changes of luck periods causes sexual incompatibility, qi incompatibility – peach blossom is activated in a particular year that brings a strong peach blossom then we are 'suddenly' caught by surprise. In actual fact, all the clues are there the moment they are born. 

Then the crucial questions is “Do we tell our clients?” Some consultants who are not tactful in their analysis will tend to tell it like it is or worst exaggerate the condition to create a sense of reliance. My way is that, I sealed up all the available peach blossom in their environment. Tell them about their character outlook and possible luck and peach blossom encounters.

No, we don't touch on the sexual compatibility issues unless one of the couple highlights it or seek analysis and further rectification methods. The irony is that, it could be one of their biggest problem in marriage but it is also a problem that you can openly discuss. If they are single and ask about compatibility – I would just tell it like it is.

When doing placement of bed toward their favorable Ba Zi location, we would also consider both of their character traits and the effects of enhancement. If we just place according to what they need individually, on most cases it would not benefit them as a couple.

Feng Shui and Animal Liberation - fantastic leverage to overcome life critical illness

Just received a call from my long term client last night. He updated me that his brother who is confirmed with prostate cancer stage 2, had recently undergo check up before his operation. Doctor has confirmed that his cancer cell has gone down to almost normal level.

About 2 months ago, his my client call me up and ask me to schedule a day so that I can fly to Johor Bahru to audit his brother's house. His brother is confirmed with cancer and he tried to do everything to help him.

Upon arrival at his home, I was informed that they just renovated their house after Chinese New Year 2010, and 3 months after that he went for medical check up and doctor confirmed he had cancer.

The house water exit and kitchen stove area is totally off for his Ba Zi- Chinese Astrrology base on year,month, day and time of birth. Even his sleeping position is wrong for his Ba Zi, although he has been sleeping in that location for almost 10 years. Health problems will usually surface when there is changes in the person's luck period. During good luck period, you will not notice much. However when the luck is not favorable, all of it will manifest.

After all Feng Shui suggestion, I sat personally with the couple and plainly told them their situation. When you are diagnosed with cancer, you will need all the leverage you can get.

1. Environment must be supportive - the qi is right for your recovery.
2. Changing your lifestyle and diet, because that is the thing that got you into this present problem.
3. Do a lot of animal liberation - destiny that you born with have some pre-determine factor, and that pre-determine factor is karma. Terminal desease is usually stems from manifestation or ripening of our bad karma. Karma in simplistic term means your debts to other sentient beings as a result of your previous action and intention.

Point 1 and 2 we have already settled, now to solve point 3, it needs a lot of your own effort. One of the most efficient way is through animal liberation. Benefiting other sentient beings so that they have a chance to be free from untimely death and suffering will create the cause for you to purify your bad karma.

They took my advice to heart, on the first animal liberation, they released 1000 birds. And have been doing it consistently. And from their feedback, it seems the purification is working powerfully with other things they have done.

Am I saying that animal liberation will cure cancer? No. It will reduce the cause of your decease and manifest and ripen your good karma. If it is not too severe, it will even help overcome the desease from the spiritual angle.

Sometimes it also takes good karma to read, understand and put to practice this information. Think about it and then start doing it!

Profiling a Sexual Offender

This guy is being charged for luring teenage girls for sex and later blackmailing them for more favors with the video and photos he has recorded. Those higher sexual desire can be seen by the eyelids. Eyelids that are puffy usually indicates more... prone to sexual imagination. However this kind of sex offender, usually require higher intelligence, as his motive is to first lure - not direct rape. Therefore it is proven in his high forehead, displaying strategizing and planning ability.

Then we look at the eyebrow, both eyebrow are short meaning short temper and also eyebrow on the right eye is not clearly visible on this picture. It also means that age 33 and 34 there is not much accomplishment, in fact fail in all things he tried.

Crooked nose bridge shows that someone that cannot be trusted, likes to tell lies. Add on to high and wide forehead, so we can deduce he is someone  cunning with his words and most of the time false.

Top lips are very thin while bottom lips are very thick, again a sign of heavy sexual desires. Add that to the narrow and declining chin, someone who has a lot of sexual fantasy, uncontrollable sexual desires on the lips and likes to lie.

Then we have to analyse and think, there are a lot of guys with puffy eyelids but they do not commit sexual offense. This person has all the traits.

1.     Puffy eyelids

2.    Thick lower lips and thin upper lips

3.    Crooked nose

4.    High cheekbones but without flesh – unable to control mental desire

5.    Narrow and receding chin with high forehead – much imagination and will act on impulse without thinking about consequences.

Traditionally parent would like to say that usually bad guys does not have a marking on their forehead. In fact they do, our face usually have all the clues on our characters, background and also tendency.

It is a valuable skill in our degenerated society.

Driving Force

Last week I was all ready to conduct the Qi Men Dun Jia (QMDJ) program and San Yuan Level 3 in Moscow. On the morning before I left, my wife came down with high fever. I thought it was just normal flu with fever, however by afternoon the fever still have not subside, nothing much can be done on my side because she already went to local GP and taken some medicine.

*On a side note*Oh yes, family members of Feng Shui practitioners do get sick like everyone else. Feng Shui practitioners themselves also will get sick and we are mortals too. Sometimes we even prepare advance for the end of our mortality, which is why I have even prepare for my final resting place even though I am just 35.

By the time I am about to leave for the airport in the evening, I have asked my mum to take my wife to the hospital if her fever still have not subside in a few hours. I left for Moscow in a worried state of mind, as my wife seldom gets sick, the most once a year even then it is very mild stuff. Plus my two boys still is down with mild flu and feverish. However there are so many students anticipating for the program, everything was already set in motion.

When I transit in Singapore, I have already received news that she was admitted into the hospital. At least I am not that worried as she is under medical supervision. Upon arrival in Moscow the next morning, she had gone through several test and still waiting for the result.

Just when I arrived to my hotel, I received a call from my wife that my son suddenly told his nanny that he cannot walk at all. I was informed that my mum rushed to pick him up and was sending him to the hospital. Immediately I discussed with my organizers in Moscow that I will need to re-schedule and will leave immediately after the Qi Men Dun Jia program. My state of mind at that time was totally unsuitable to teach even though I have already arrived in Moscow.

After detailed discussion and deciding thoroughly, I made the decision to fly back to Malaysia that very day. With great help from my sister and staff at Harpers Travel Penang, I was confirmed on the next flight out of Moscow. I have decided to give students who were going to attend this program a big discount for the inconvenience they have to go through because of the postponement.

In all these years of setting objectives, goals and achieving all of them, I thought my driving force was based on the sense of achievement and being one of the best of what I do. However my highest personal value, which I found out that day, is my family. All these while I know family ranked high in my personal values. However in situation like this, it really makes me sort out my priorities in life even more clearer than any conventional exercise that I have been through before. Nothing matter more to me than family. They are my biggest driving force to achieve, succeed and even do more for them than what I will ever do for myself.

I could have forced myself to stay, but then how good of a teacher I will be if I stayed because of the financial rewards and ignoring the conditions of my wife and son. I do not think they would want to learn from somebody like that either. It would also not be fair to the students with my state of mind in such a situation.

Some readers will want to know that I surely have the Bazi of my wife and children. I would have known whether they will be safe or in danger. Yes, their BaZi is as clear as anything and at the back of my head. But that does not stop me feeling worried and anxious on their health condition. Heck with my QMDJ calculation of traveling to Moscow, I have even secured a major consulting contract in Malaysia upon reaching Moscow. Nevertheless like any husband and father, I was extremely worried on that day.

Do you know what is driving your behaviour? What is driving you to achieve? What is causing your success or failure? By knowing your BaZi and destiny path in detail, then you would only be able to maximize on it when you have clear and consistent path of achievement. Achieving not by any other people’s standard, but achieving based on the core of who you are and what you have been dealt with in life (BaZi).
