MERS through eyes of Chinese Metaphysics

2002 - 2003 saw the first rise of SARS infections and peak of death rates in 2003. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Severe_acute_respiratory_syndrome. That was 12 years ago. The Chinese Calendar in 2003 was 癸未, exactly a cycle of Earthly Branches 地支 compare to this year.

This month and especially this few days, news agencies started picking up the spread of MERS virus in Korea. Whether can the virus spread further, as it was first noticed in late 2012 in Saudi Arabia.

Interestingly this year 2015, the Chinese Calendar is 乙未. It is the same as in 2003, which is a goat year 未,however the Heavenly Stems 天干 is different. 2003 癸未 saw the clash of 癸 water stem clash with 未 earthly branch, which is clear water represented by the 癸 WATER stem with 未 EARTH branch.

2015 however, we have 乙 Wood Stem with 未 Earth. Will it be able to go full fledge into epidemic scale? Not likely. However since the month of June is 壬午 and July is 癸未 , base on this 2 months and their element it is not likely to go away anytime soon.  The likely EARLIEST will also have to be beginning of autumn which is in August 甲申.

Travelling this year if based on #QMDJ Qi Men Dun Jia 奇门遁甲 is not advisable for WEST and also EAST, using your own locality as to determine reference point.

For those who their own Ba Zi 八字 is particularly sensitive to Fire are not advisable to travel at least until Autumn this year, if the infection rate is not controlled by respective countries within these few weeks.

Stay Safe!

TRAVEL FENG SHUI - Chiang Mai City 2

In our family trip to Chiang Mai city, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Hotel. We are happy with our stay and even glad that we had a chance to communicate with the hotel General Manager who is also a Penangite.

While my stay in Holiday Inn had been brief and also most of the time we are out on excursion and shopping. Even with such schedule,I still managed to have a brief analysis of the hotel Feng Shui.

On the left wall of the front facade

The hotel from the information that I have gathered, is more busy now compared to previously. And some attribute it to some changes in the interior that was done in the hotel. The most obvious is the standing Lord Ganesha statue that is facing the main doors of the hotel.

Some of the readers will now have questions in mind, what does Lord Ganesha has to do with Feng Shui?

Allow me to explain this case study. The hotel has 2 main doors in the front, on the left and right.

The hotel front facade faces almost North. Thereby one of the main door is facing directly NORTH while the other is more of a NORTHEAST.

By having Lord Ganesha, in the center hall of the hotel, actually it has strengthened one of the door to be considered as main intake of Qi. And it happens that this main door where Lord Ganesha statue is facing is the NORTHERN door.

View from behind Lord Ganesha statue, looking at pic you can see the other entrance on the right.

Hotel industry belongs to element of Metal and Water industry. Before the installation of Lord Ganesha, the hotel had equal intake of Qi from 2 main doors which is a mix Qi, after the installation, the primary Qi intake has been established on the Northern door. Whereby creates more traffic flow and business for the hotel.

Some who like to study Feng Shui theories and in constant search for Feng Shui complex formulas will be thinking " WHAT ?! That's it?, no need check the Flying Star 飛星, Water Exits 出水位, Landforms 地形, Xuan Gong Da Gua 玄空大卦?"

Knowing when to apply what is the most crucial skill as a Feng Shui practitioner. Being able to find the most effective leverage point to influence a Feng Shui setup is called a Skillful Feng Shui practitioner.

Of course more can be done for the hotel in terms of its location and interior.

Nevertheless they have correctly installed the beautiful Lord Ganesha together with 4 other elephant statues in their main hall from a Feng Shui perspective.

TRAVEL Feng Shui - Chiang Mai City

I was in Chiang Mai on 17-20 November for our family vacation. Even though on vacation, there is much Feng Shui to talk about and explore.

with wife and kids at Chedi Luang Temple

Arriving in Chiang Mai city airport for the first time, the first thing that struck me was the beautiful mountain that is near the city. As a Feng Shui practitioner, it is one of our occupational habit to look at mountains and rivers!
Chiang Mai city has a beautiful Broken Army Mountain 破軍山 behind its city. It is almost as magnificent as the one in Yuen Long , Hong Kong.

Chiang Mai Province is
a former capital of the Kingdom of Lanna (1296–1768). Only later it was integrated in the formation of Thailand from Siam.

As our tour brings us around the city, and with explanation from our excellent local guide. The city does owe its history and also current development to this single magnificent mountains and the qi it bestows on the city.

I come a San Yuan Feng Shui 三元地理 lineage. 三元 San Yuan means the 3 factors which is Yin Yang 陰陽, Direction/Location 方向/方位 and Timing .

Whereas San He 三合風水 are more concern with Yin Yang陰陽 and Direction/Location.

If you are interested to know more about my lineage, I have written and article about it in 2007 http://gkham.com/content/index.phpoption=com_content&task=view&id=29&Itemid=27 in rebuttal towards a certain writer mis-informed idea and history towards what San Yuan Lineage is truly about.

Often newbies are mistaken to think that San Yuan Feng Shui is the same as San Yuan Flying Star 三元飛星, San Yuan 三元in Flying Stars means Upper Period 上元,Middle Period 中元 and Lower Period 下元

San Yuan Flying Star is an off-shoot branch from San Yuan Di Li, using the combination of Later Heaven Ba Gua 后天八卦 as way of analyzing the events of a particular Feng Shui setup (if you don't know what I mean, don't worry, in simple terms it just means that San Yuan Feng Shui is NOT San Yuan Flying Star).

So what makes Chiang Mai city enjoying its good Feng Shui currently? It is the magnificent Broken Army Mountain 破軍山. As I have briefly explained, in San Yuan Feng Shui there is a strong emphasis on Timing. Meaning that even though landform formations may be good, it does have a timing to it. Whereas San He Feng Shui system does not place emphasis on this factor.

Chiang Mai Province most notable prosperity was 700 years ago, then it experienced a period of decline and in this 20 years or so, it has become prosperous again. Why?

In San Yuan Feng Shui, we classified Mountains/Landforms under 2 Periods which is Upper Period and Lower Period. Each period will last for 90 Years.
Broken Army Mountain belongs to the Lower Period mountains 下元山, which will only exudes prosperous influence on Lower Period timings. Currently we are in the Lower Period until 2043. I believe it had also prosper in between all the Lower Periods in the past.

Then what happens in the Upper Period? Having a Lower Period landform in a Upper Period timing will only enhances its negative factors.

What are Broken Army Mountain's negative factor? Well as the name implies, some of its factor will include war, violence and brutality. If you research Northern Thailand's history, it has long conflicts with Burma (now known as Myanmar). Even elephants are used to engaged in the battles between 2 countries.
The Broken Army Mountain is also classified as a Metal Element. What makes Chiang Mai Broken Army mountain strong in Qi is also its location. It is located in the West side of the city. This fulfills part what we would call 9 Stars Return Landform Formation 九星歸位. However Chiang Mai only has 1 of the Mountain in the correct location, nevertheless its influence has made Chiang Mai now known as the Culture Centre of Thailand. Main economy for Chiang Mai is tourism, with approx 2 Million tourist a year.

Why would I say that it will prosperous until 2043, it is because Broken Army Mountain is also the governing mountain for all the Lower Period Mountains.

Some would then ask, how come only the prosperity of Chiang Mai is evident now and not 30 years ago. The answer is because of 2 factors.

1. Upper and Lower Period does take some time for the landform to exudes strong influence. It is works as what we see on a Bell graph.
2. In previous Lower Period, it may have been more evident and faster, but now looking at flow of Maenam Ping (Ping River) that runs through the city, the flow is very slow. Faster flow increase in the Qi that runs through the city thereby increasing the hustle and bustle activities, however this itself, from my perspective is a blessing, as slower river means a more laid back lifestyle for local community. It also creates people who are more gentle in character and thought.

Overall, a great place to relax, shopping, enjoy the culture and also take in its mountain Feng Shui!
